  • The Hooves Belonged to the Deer

    When Izzy's family moves to a small rural town, the young queer Muslim boy becomes the salvation pet project to the local pastor. In an attempt to reconcile his sexuality and faith, Izzy invents his own Garden of Eden, where Adam and Hawa's (Eve in Arabic) relationship is turned upside down by the arrival of Steve, a beautiful, blue-eyed, white-skinned man from the Northern Kingdoms. Part of Buddies in Bad Time’s Queer, Far, Wherever You Are series, The Hooves Belonged to the Deer is an epic audioplay straddling a turbulent present and a reimagined past.   • Speculation

    Speculation is a theatrical concert with an immersive visual design based on the experience of vision loss. A monologue interweaved with live performances of Beethoven and John Cage tells a mother-daughter story of loss and listening. In response to the pandemic lockdown, Speculation was transformed into a theatre-film hybrid where the audience had the option of calling in to join Leslie Ting and fellow audience members in a live performance of John Cage's 4'33”.

  • Pearle Harbour's Chautauqua

    Chautauqua is an immersive piece that takes place inside a large canvas tent. Equipped with musical accompaniment, puppets, and audience participation, Pearle Harbour takes her tent community on a journey of social connectivity, in a world where connection is a dying practice. Developed at The RISER Project 2017, Chautauqua has grown to become a nation-wide touring sensation.

    From Director Sky Gilbert, and Cage on the Run Productions, I Cook, He Does the Dishes is a homage to composer John Cage and his romantic relationship with choreographer Merce Cunningham. In a loose narrative, Gilbert and his collaborators use iPads, live feeds, microphone effects, and moments of chaos to present the depth, turmoil, and sexuality of their relationship which helped the propel the theatrical avant-garde.

  • What Linda Said

    When the iconic Toronto theatre artist Linda Griffiths was fighting breast cancer, Priscila Uppal was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called synovial sarcoma. During Priscila's surgery, Linda passed away. What Lina Said is a story about coping with loss, and coming to terms with reality, ironically by using aspects magical realism with LED lighting effects, and transformative set pieces and costumes.
